The Birthday Party Filled with Little Chefs + a Freebie!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Wow...where did last week all go? It sure seemed to fly by fast.

Last week was my daughter's birthday! She has been having so much fun in the kitchen recently, we thought it would be fun to invite some friends over to do some baking!

When trying to decide what kind of party favor to give to the children, an apron or a chef's hat immediately came to my mind. What a bonus it was to be in Hobby Lobby one day when I noticed the children's aprons were 50% off! Boy, I couldn't pass that up. All my party favors TOTALED to less than 10 bucks! Woohoo!

So I went ahead and drew a little pizza slice and digitized it for the aprons. Being inspired by my friend Jennie of Homeberries, I loved the tutorial she put together for SWAK 101 on coloring in outlines. So fast to stitch out, I knew that was the perfect option for embellishing the aprons and letting the kids in on the fun by coloring!

Once their pizzas were colored in, on went the aprons and we were ready to begin cooking!

The pizzas were easy-peasy to make. All I did was buy canned biscuit dough at the store and the kids spread them out in the pans. (Washing hands first of course!) Then it was time to spread on the sauce!

Then of course the cheese...

...And lots of it! It was hilarious watching them all make their own versions of pizza.

And then into the oven they went!

While those baked, it was time to move onto dessert! We had the "Top Chef" competition to see who could come up with the best cookie concoction. Oh, it was great! The things they came up with were fantastic. Packaged sugar cookie dough divided into sections was the easiest way to put this all together. We set out candy and let them go for it!

Of course they didn't quite realize that this...

...would soon turn into this once baked! LOL!

And finally, you know when you think you've got everything planned just right, and then you realize you really don't? As we're getting ready to bring out the cake, I discovered that I had forgotten the candles! Ug! So my cute husband made do with what we had, and this was how her cake was presented!

Of course she loved it and probably will never forget it as well. Whatever works! :)And getting a great big hug from the birthday girl was the best payment of all. What a kid!

If you have an embroidery machine, I've got this pizza slice design waiting over at SWAK for you and you may download it for FREE! If you don't use it now, it may just be something to keep in your files for sometime down the road. Enjoy!

Have a great week!

Oh Kris, you've got me rolling over here. The candle mishap sounds like something I would do! The pizza aprons were of course, way to cute. You always have such a knack for making cute creative kid fun! The pizzas look delicious along with the oversized cookies! What a fun party. You're a great mom!!!!

I love her birthday candles/matches!! Sometimes our favorite memories are of the times like this when we've "made do." I think the kids refer to it as "senile mom" moments!

This is really awesome! I am considering something similar but dinosaur or robot themed for my son in September. Interactive activites are great!

What a great idea for a birthday party! Score on the aprons...50% off!? Lucky duck! It looks like everyone had a lot of fun and "designing" their own cookies seemed like a hit, also.

I'm cracking up at the "candles". Hey, it works! ;)

Brilliant like usual! I love it and those aprons are so so cute. Now do you have a zillion little pans so each kid could have one? Looks like a super fun party and one I wish I could've gone to when I was little.

Love that pizza slice design. I'd love to learn how to do that kind of thing one day but for now I'd settle for figuring out how to rethread my machine. Yes I am that much of a newbie! Have to wait until Tuesday when my mom can come over and help me!
